Bio
Russell was born in Fort Huachuca, Arizona and his family moved to Yuma when he was one year old. He graduated from Kofa High School and went to work in the family business, Accurate Automotive Attention, an automotive repair company started by his father Dennis in 1969.

In 2001 he was accepted to Project CENTRL, a rural leadership program, and is a graduate of class XVI. As a result of a required Project CENTRL internship, he started a fund raising committee in 2002 for Amberly’s Place (a victim’s advocacy and crisis counseling center - www.amberlysplace.com). In 2003 he was invited to join the board of Amberly’s Place where he has served as board President three times. The committee created an annual fund raiser, Amberly's Week In Paradise, which continues to impact our community with over $50,000 raised annually to aid the individuals served by Amberly's Place. Russell retired from this board in 2021.

In 2004, he ran for his first public office and was elected to the Yuma County Board of Supervisors. He was re-elected in November 2008, November of 2012 and again in November 2016. He served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board at various times throughout his politcal career. Russell did not run for re-election in 2020, retiring after 16 blessed years on the board.

In October 2014, he received the Heart of Yuma award as Yuma’s Outstanding Leader for his work with Amberly’s Place.

In 2018 he was a part of the spring cohort of the Flinn-Brown Leadership Academy successfully completing that program in May 2018.
