Bio
A native Tucsonan and first generation college graduate Mary Vega has made her career working for the University of Arizona (UofA). For the past six years she has led the College of Medicine-Tucson Information Technology Services by guiding and directing new business strategies that transform academic, administrative, and research capabilities. She is a dynamic leader with diverse expertise in building collaborative teams, eliciting consensus and leading large-scale initiatives. Mary is dedicated to higher education and is keenly focused on innovation, education, and serving her communities. Her motto: “I save lives with technology.”

As a lifelong learner she holds B.S. degrees in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems and Operations Management from the University of Arizona. Mary also obtained her Masters in Human Relations from Northern Arizona University. Currently she is pursuing a PhD in Health Behavior Health Promotion from the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at UofA.

Ms. Vega is a certified project and scrum master. A scrum master is the servant-leader for the Scrum team and facilitator for agile development. She is active in many organizations including Project Management Institute (PMI), Educause a nonprofit association that helps higher education elevate the impact of IT, is a 2016 Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Information Resources Fellow, and proud member of Project Central Class 27. Mary enjoys living in Tucson and takes every opportunity to be outside with her two amazing rescue dogs Leo and Maya.
