Bio
Hi! I’m an energetic person who strives to live with integrity. I arrived in Arizona in February 1999 when my first career position brought me to the heart of the Navajo Nation. A 7.5-year tenure with the Indian Health Service enabled me to interface closely with community members and stunning landscape of the Colorado Plateau. Flagstaff has been home for the past 15 years. After stints at Kahtoola, Coconino County, and Northern Arizona University, I launched Grants that Go the Distance LLC to help organizations bring their ideas to life with competitive grant funding. In January 2023, I began serving my first three-year term on the board of directors of the international Grant Professionals Association. I have also volunteered as a Site Visit Team Chair for the Public Health Accreditation Board and served on the founding board of directors for two Flagstaff nonprofits. Valuing education, I am one of 23 Arizona residents who is Grant Professional Certified via the accredited Grant Professionals Certification Institute. I earned a Bachelor of Science and Specialist in Gerontology Certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Master of Public Health from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (culminating in a two-year stint with Peace Corps/Nepal through their Master’s International Program), and successfully completed the University of Michigan School of Public Health's Graduate Summer Session in Epidemiology (as part of an Indian Health Service Injury Prevention Specialist Fellowship). I enjoy learning from each person I encounter.
