Bio

John F. Howard is a lawyer, small business owner, entrepreneur, civil rights advocate, and an educator. Professionally he is the Director of the University of Arizona HIPAA Privacy Program where he helps ensure the protection of the personal health information of the University’s patients and research participants. He is also a professor of practice at the James E. Rogers College of Law where he teaches his students about how to protect the privacy and security of individual’s health information and the importance of individual privacy rights in the health care industry. John is active in his local business community where he enjoys spending time finding ways to give back to the community through consulting or by connecting those in need with community resources. Most recently this work led to the creation of the Tucson Food Project, a non-profit that provides food and a little bit of humanity to those experiencing food insecurity.
