Bio
Lucas Shaw is a product of the West, with over two decades of experience specializing in the area of water and natural resources. Lucas is from Utah but has called Arizona home since 2008. He graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. Prior to moving to Arizona, Lucas worked as a GIS Analyst for the Utah Geological Survey and as a GIS contractor for PacifiCorp utilities.

In 2009 Lucas completed a master’s degree (MBA) from Northern Arizona University before moving to the Phoenix area to work for the Salt River Project (SRP). Today Lucas has the opportunity to collaborate with some of the brightest minds working on some of the most challenging water issues facing Arizona in the decades to come.

As the Director of Water Rights & Contracts Lucas provides technical direction for SRP’s involvement in the Gila River and Little Colorado River adjudications, supports SRP’s water contract management, and seeks resolution to complex water issues through settlement and developing creative water management solutions.

Outside of work Lucas enjoys researching Arizona’s unique history and spending quality time outdoors camping, skiing, hiking, and fishing with family. Lucas is honored to be a member of Project CENTRL Class 34.
