Bio

Preston Raban currently serves as the Economic Development Director for Apache County, Arizona. He began his career in roles defined by service and technical expertise, serving as a State Trooper in Utah and later sharing his passion for aviation as a helicopter pilot instructor. These early foundational experiences instilled in him a disciplined approach to problem-solving and a deep commitment to public safety and education.

Transitioning into the private sector, Preston served as a property procurement specialist, identifying bank-owned, probate, bankruptcy, REO, and other distressed properties. In this capacity, he revitalized and sold these assets to investment partners globally, witnessing firsthand how adding value to real property can reshape and stabilize depressed communities. His work allowed investors to diversify their portfolios while simultaneously restoring neighborhoods affected by socio-economic stressors.

Raised in small-town U.S.A., Preston is driven by a desire to help rural communities maintain their core values amidst shifting economic landscapes. He is currently spearheading efforts to prepare Apache County for its next economic chapter as local coal-burning power plants systematically phase out operations.

Preston’s academic background supports his multifaceted career, holding a Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University, a Bachelor of Science in Education from Utah State University, and an Associate of Science from Dixie State College.
